    About me

Photo: Gina Farncombe painting out on the Cumbrian Fells.

I am a teller of stories - mostly with paint. The stories change as I go through life. At the moment I am preoccupied with tales of trees. For the last 45 years of my life there has hardly been a day when I haven’t put pen to paper or brush to canvas. Recently oil paint has been my addiction.  Another 300 years on the planet would still not be enough time for me to understand the mixing of colour and the handling of paint.

    About My paintings

They change all the time. I work away and then Bingo....!  I see another way to use tone or colour or form. I am hugely influenced uplifted and indebted to past and present painters. The more I paint the more I learn from other people’s work. I also sell paintings prints and cards from The Royal Hotel Dockray and would be happy for an arranged visit to my studio which is just over the bridge from The Royal.
